Footer navigation
The footer can be a second map, not just a closing line.
Navigation is not limited to the top menu. A homepage, topic map, archive list and footer all help readers decide where to go next.
Dense pages need multiple paths, but those paths should not compete. Each section should have a clear role.
The reader should never have to guess whether a title is clickable or where an article belongs.
