Motion without noise
Animation should clarify state and depth instead of becoming spectacle.
The interface should explain the path forward before it tries to impress. Motion, hover states and layout rhythm are useful only when they make the page easier to scan.
A neutral blog can still use contemporary interface language. The difference is that every component points back to reading, browsing or understanding the archive.
Small interaction details create confidence when they are consistent and reversible.
